170 Co-Op employees have lost their jobs. This blog is meant to help them get back on their feet.
Any topic is ok, but employment is a priority. We are all about people helping people to get jobs!
Can anybody recommend an agency, a school or a person who can give us some help with employment? Tell who they are and where they are and how they help.

Does anyone know of a social service agency that can provide free services for someone who is having emotiona/ problems relating to depression due to unemployment?
If you look in the section on this website "where to get training" there is a community service group called the BLUE GARGOYLE, with contact information. I see that they offer counseling services, I don't know if they are free or not, however it's someplace to start. Perhaps they can lead you in the right direction, if they can't help.
These centers provide careful assessment, support, and high quality therapy to our clients as they seek to understand and manage their lives. At The Genesis Therapy Center, we utilize a multidisciplinary approach, which emphasizes developing potential for making better relational and individual choices.
The Genesis Therapy Center supports the local communities it serves through its Community Care Program that provides services (on a sliding fee scale) to those who have limited income and limited ability to pay.
For most Co-Op employees, the closest place to find a Genesis Center is 5600 S. Woodlawn in the Hyde Park Union Church (though Genesis has is non-denominational and has no conncection with the HPU Church itself). Call (773) 752-1945 or email info@genesistherapy.org
For contact information about many, many other centers throughout the city and suburbs look at http://www.genesistherapy.org/locations.cfm or email info@genesistherapy.org.
We have a website that provides information on this and eventually will have other referrals as well.
I am registered with several city and state organizations and they all have helped me maybe about 10% (if that) since I have been unemployed. It is looking pretty grim since I am having problems trying to pay my rent and at the same time feed my kids on $65 a month of food stamps. And get this, according to public aid I make too much money to get aid money. Now I get about $500 every two weeks and my rent is $650. Could someone tell me how could this be!
Anyone that is still looking for a job should register with Paige Personnel or Kelly Services. I can tell you that they've helped me since the Coop clsoed. As of now I am interning at HCSC as a project manager. And it took me over 3 months of looking to get to where I am.
